Spreewälder Sagennacht (Spreewald Night of Legends)

Wassermann

The “Spreewälder Sagennacht” embeds stories and myths from the Spreewald into a fantastic combination of acting, music and dance. Every year at Whitsun the Schlossberg hill is turned into a “legendary world”. At three consecutive nights, Sorbian/Wendish legends, funny stories and mystic figures from the Spreewald as well as songs, customs and traditions are brought to life amidst nature and submerged in a perfect light show. Lutkis, Bludniks, the Midday Woman, the Snake King and the Merman become old, new heroes and popular figures who impart both historic values as well as problems of the modern age to the audience. Thus, both the young and the young at heart feel well entertained and understood…

As a co-production of the administrative district of Spree-Neisse and the Burg (Spreewald) association of administration, the “Spreewälder Sagennacht” is under the art direction of the Cottbus theatre. Like many other outstanding mystery plays in the German culture it is well on its way to become a classic among the great open air performances.

Just convince yourself…and enjoy this experience of art, entertainment, rest and relaxation at the highest stage!
